I am a Yooper. I have lived my whole life in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I graduated from Gwinn High School in 2005 and then from Northern Michigan University (NMU) in 2009 with a Bachelors Degree in Music Education. I was fortunate enough to get a job right out of college teaching elementary music in Negaunee, just a half an hour away from my hometown, and I have been teaching there ever since!
I am a musician. I began playing piano when I was just three years old, started singing in my church choir when I was eight years old, and grabbed every musical opportunity that came my way through to this day. My focus in college was vocal music, but I play piano and oboe regularly as well. |
I am a thespian. I was in my first musical, Annie, when I was in eighth grade. Some of my favorite shows I've been involved in have been Les Miserables, A Christmas Story, and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. My husband and I met each other through NMU's theatre program.
I am my own person and I am not afraid to bring that into my classroom. I run, bike, and play outside. I have a dog and a bird. I have traveled to Ireland and Germany. All of my interests and experiences make me who I am and help me connect to my students.
